After a brief suspension, the Torkham border reopened for pedestrian movement on Monday, as confirmed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Torkham, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The reopening comes with the reinstatement of the requirement for travel documents for all passengers, signalling a return to regulated cross-border movement.

The border had seen a temporary halt in traffic for three days due to infrastructural changes at the Torkham station.

During this period, the transit of ill passengers on foot was also suspended on both sides of the border.

The resumption of services is expected to ease the travel for many, especially those seeking medical attention, and bolster the local economy affected by the standstill.
