Pak-Afghan Cooperation Forum (PACF) has arranged a free eye medical camp in Jinnah Hospital of Kabul and in Khost from November 18 to November 20.
PACF in a statement issued on Saturday said, “On 18 November, eighty- seven cataract surgeries were performed and 720 patients were examined while on second day, 1,100 patients were examined and 132 operations were performed. A total of 1820 Afghan patients were examined and 219 operations were performed.”
FACF said that Pakistan continued to support the Afghan people at times when winters are approaching and things would be difficult for Afghan people.
“PACF has been playing an active role in Afghanistan since the withdrawal of US troops. Earlier, the PACF sent hundreds of tons of food and other supplies to Afghanistan via the Torkham border as humanitarian aid,” the statement reads.
An Afghan patient at the medical camp said: “Earlier several Afghan ophthalmologists examined my eye and diagnosed cataracts. When I found out about Free Eye Camp, I got here and now my operation has been successful with ease and I am grateful to Pakistan. My eye surgery was estimated at Rs 40,000 per eye but here my treatment was free.”
Earlier in October, Pakistani officials handed over humanitarian aid to Afghan officials at Paktika from the platform of Pak Afghan Cooperation Forum (PACF) in 7 Trucks carrying 114 tons of edibles.
On the occasion, Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan said that humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan would continue.
