The Pak-Afghan border at Chaman remained closed on the eighth consecutive day as a consequence of firing by the Afghan forces which had left an FC official martyred and two others with critical injuries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The Pak-Afghan border remained closed for all commercial activities, and hundreds of vehicles carrying commercial goods remained stranded in long queues on both sides of the border.

Traders were afraid of the losses of millions of rupees.

On the other hand, the customs officials were of the view that politics and trade should be separated at borders. “This week, the revenue collected by the customs is zero. The economy of the country has been damaged,” they added.

According to Deputy Commissioner Hameed Zahri, the Pak-Afghan border will be opened for all kinds of commercial activities on March 21.
