Accepting former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s request, an accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Monday ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to record his statement in the Toshakhana vehicles reference by November 30, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
AC judge Muhammad Bashir heard the reference.
Pleaders of Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed and Anwar Majeed appeared in the court.
Qazi Misbah Advocate, counsel for the PML-N supremo, prayed to the court to order the NAB to record his client’s statement. “A supplementary reference will have to be filed. The first one had been filed in Nawaz’s absence,” he said, adding, “We want his statement to be recorded in the case.”
NAB’s prosecutor, on the occasion, sought time from the court to read the application filed by the former prime minister.
He further said that it was the investigation officer (IO) who had to record the statement, and only he would record it. “We have no objection to the IO recording the statement,” the prosecutor added.
The court marked the suspects present, and adjourned the case’s hearing until November 30.
