A troop of six monkeys caused a commotion in a busy market of Karachi on Wednesday after they managed to escape from the megacity’s zoo, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The apes jumped from one building to another in Soldier Bazaar area and stormed into houses, panicking the residents who ran out for help.
Sindh Wildlife Department teams rushed to the site but they could not match the super active monkeys.
People lined up in the market to see the troop jumping from building to building over their heads.
Initially, it was suggested that the monkeys had escaped from a nearby zoo, but the zoo administration denied any ownership, leading to an interesting situation.
Upon spotting the monkeys in the Garden area, residents promptly called rescue services for assistance. Wildlife department officials and police also arrived at the scene to help the local residents.
The police stated that these monkeys might have possibly escaped from the zoo.
The police indicated that an investigation would be conducted to determine the ownership and origin of the monkeys. According to the police, no damage has been reported so far.
