The supply of coal from Duki has been suspended following a deadly attack on coal miners, reported by the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The strike comes as miners protest the deteriorating law and order situation in the area.
The National Labour Federation (NLF) reported that around 50,000 labourers work in the 1,200 coal mines located in Duki, but 40,000 have already left for their native homes due to safety concerns.
Before the strike, approximately 1,500 trucks were supplying coal daily to Sindh, Punjab, and other regions. The NLF also highlighted that 80,000 miners work in 2,600 mines across Balochistan.
The heirs of 21 miners killed in a terrorist attack in Duki are still waiting for compensation, which was promised by the Government of Balochistan.
The government had announced a compensation package of Rs1.5 million for each family of the deceased miners.
The suspension of coal supply has created significant disruption, impacting industries in various provinces. The miners are demanding improved security and immediate compensation for the victims' families.
