In a startling revelation, over 170 illegal residential colonies have been uncovered in Lahore, where private housing societies have been involved in selling more files than the actual number of plots, causing financial losses to the public.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this fraudulent practice has sparked concern, leading the government to take action.
To curb this illegal activity, the process of linking all private housing societies with the Punjab Environmental Law and Regulatory Authority (PELRA) has begun.
Sources said that connecting the housing societies to PELRA will ensure the protection of property rights for the citizens.
The Board of Revenue has also directed the Director-General of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to compile complete data on all housing societies across the province.
Additionally, efforts to expedite the issuance of long-delayed No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for housing societies have been ramped up.
Authorities have further instructed action against housing societies that violate government rules or fail to adhere to development timelines.
