Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Babar Iftikhar said on Monday that they were in constant contact with the Taliban to protect Pakistan's interest, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
"We have no reason to doubt the intention of Taliban," the ISPR DG said in an interview.
"We are improving border management. Despite difficulties, we have so far completed 90 per cent of fencing at the Pak-Afghan border. We will soon secure our border," Maj-Gen Babar Iftikhar said.
The Taliban have repeatedly assured that they will not let anyone use the Afghan soil against any state. He said Indian propaganda based on bogus news has become a source of ridicule and some Indian journalists have condemned this act.
Last month, the ISPR DG told the media that the situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was normal and under control while Pakistan's side was secure.
He was talking to the media in wake of the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan. Pakistan had already started taking the steps to guard the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, he said, adding that the armed forces will leave no stone unturned to protect the homeland.
He added "The political and military leadership in Pakistan had foreseen that something like this (Taliban takeover in Afghanistan) could happen. So, despite whatever has happened on that side (Afghanistan), the situation on the Pak-Afghan border is normal and under control."
