Babar Awan, counsel for former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, on Tuesday read out before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad verdict of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in which the court had ordered removing terrorism-related sections from the case registered against Imran and also sending the case to the sessions court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ATC summoned Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi and went into recess.
Speaking during the hearing of terrorism case registered against the former prime minister for making threatening remarks against a female judge and senior police officials, counsel for PTI chairman said that the IHC had already decreed that the case be referred to the sessions court.
Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hasan asked how the ATC could transfer the case to another court when neither the case’s challan had been submitted to it as yet nor any witness’s statement had been recorded. “Imran will have to file bail plea in the sessions court,” he said, adding, “Decision on your client’s bail application is pending in this court. But now after the IHC’s order, the court is no more authorized to give the decision.”
The judge advised Babar to take back PTI chairman’s bail application.
But Imran’s lawyer refused to withdraw the application.
