The AJK joint opposition has geared up for bringing in a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The opposition has submitted a requisition for an AJK assembly session. However, Local Government Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said the opposition's bid will be thwarted.

There is no forward block in the ruling Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said, adding the opposition does not have enough numbers.

The government will not engage in blackmailing, the minister maintained, stressing that PM Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has been enjoying full support.

Reacting to the opposition's bid, AJK Forest Minister Akmal Sargala said the opposition parties didn’t want the power to be transferred to the grassroots level which was why they are playing political gimmicks.

PM Tanveer Ilyas is mandated by the people to rule for five years and the opposition is trying to block the way of development and better public service delivery.
