The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has hiked the rate of fines for different violations on highway and motorways across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Minimum fine on Motorway has been increased from Rs150 to Rs500, overspeeding fine will now cost the driver Rs2,500 instead of Rs750,
Fine for overtaking in prohibited area will now be Rs1,500 instead of Rs300, not letting emergency vehicles pass through will cost the driver Rs5,000 instead of Rs500, using mobile phone while driving will be fined Rs500 and use of heavy lights will earn the driver a fine of Rs2,000.
