Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree to bolster cooperation in all fields

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday emphasising the vital importance of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations agreed to further deepen mutual cooperation in all fields, especially economy, trade, energy and investment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The bilateral relations were discussed in a meeting between Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on the sidelines of 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations as well as the regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Jilani thanked the Saudi leadership for their generous and unwavering support to Pakistan which was particularly instrumental in securing the deal with the International Monetary Fund.

He apprised the Saudi foreign minister of the formation of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to facilitate and fast-track potential investments from GCC Member States, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He emphasized that mutually rewarding Pak-Saudi cooperation in key areas including IT, Energy, Infrastructure and labour must be fast-tracked and augmented.

The foreign minister also thanked the Saudi counterpart for hosting more than two million strong Pakistani diaspora which not only contributed towards development of both countries but also formed a vital bridge between the two brotherly nations.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud highlighted the brotherly relations between the two nations and the valuable contributions made by the Pakistani community in the development of the Kingdom.

The foreign minister reiterated that Pakistan eagerly looked forward to the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are bound by fraternal ties marked by mutual trust and understanding, close cooperation, and an abiding tradition of supporting each other.

Pakistan, Malta agree to explore opportunities for multiple cooperation

 Pakistan and Malta on Tuesday agreed to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors including information technology, pharmaceuticals, health and startups.

The bilateral ties were discussed in a meeting between Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Maltese counterpart Dr Ian Borg on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

They discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations as well as multilateral issues.

Both sides underscored the need to expand bilateral ties in all fields including political, economic, trade and investment.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhance trade and economic ties and to revive Pakistan-Malta Joint Technical Commission.

The foreign minister thanked the Maltese side for providing opportunities for Pakistani workers while expressing hope that the cooperation in the important sector of labour mobility would be further strengthened in the months to come.

They also exchanged views on issues of regional and global importance.

Pakistan, Belarus affirm commitment to advance diplomatic ties

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jillani on Tuesday met his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Aleinik wherein they affirmed their commitment to advance and strengthen the diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Belarus.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation, including a review of the progress made in implementing the agreements reached during the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Economic Commission in January 2023.

Both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing collaboration within international and regional organizations.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Aleinik extended gratitude for Pakistan’s support of Belarus’s bid for membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
