PML-N senior leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has condemned the assassination attempt on former Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Absar Alam and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Ishaq Dar wished for the successful surgery of Absar Alam and also prayed for his long life.

Absar Alam, a senior journalist and former PEMRA chairman was wounded critically when he came under a gun attack on Tuesday evening.

Absar Alam was walking in Street 32 of F-11 Sector when the assailant fired a shot at him and he received the bullet in the lower half of his belly and was hospitalised in a critical condition.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed phoned the inspector general of Islamabad Police and told him to arrest the assailant at the earliest.

Sheikh Rashid said the assailant could not escape the punishment.

Federal Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain condemned the gun attack on Absar Alam and said that the police had been directed to investigate the incident. He said that findings of the investigation would be shared with the public.
