Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar took oath as Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court in Quetta on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan administered the oath to Justice Hashim Kakar at an impressive ceremony in the provincial capital which was attended by Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, members of the provincial cabinet, BHC judges, MPAs and senior lawyers.

Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar was born on the 18th of September, 1963. Son of Haji Wazir Muhammad, a retired Government servant, and grandson of Haji Abdul Rahim, a retired army officer and a renowned tribal figure of Pishin District.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar completed his primary and secondary education at the Government Middle School Killi Kotwal, and Muslimabad High School, Quetta. He did his Masters' from the University of Balochistan in Political Science in 1988, and completed his L.LB from University Law College, Quetta in 1988.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar enrolled as an advocate on the 18th of March 1990, and subsequently as an advocate of the High Court on the 19th of March, 1992. Muhammad Hashim Kakar has practiced law for over 23 years before the Subordinate Courts and the High Court of Balochistan. He has conducted innumerable cases on criminal, civil and constitutional law and many cases have been reported in law journals.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar was appointed as a Judge of the Antiterrorism Court, Quetta on the 11th of March 2002 till September 2004.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar attended courses held by SAARC in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Project Formulation Techniques in April 1990 and in Katmandu, Nepal in May 1990, on Country Reorientation in LEAP (Linkage, Exchange, Animation and Partnership). In October 1993, he also attended a course in the Federal Judicial Academy, Government of Pakistan.
Muhammad Hashim Kakar served in an honorary capacity as a lecturer in the Police Training Centre Sariab Road, Quetta (2002) and is also member of the Board of Studies University Law College Quetta. The National Youth Organization of Pakistan presented Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar with an award of distinction, National Youth Talent Appreciation Award for the year 1989-90.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar participated in a Conference on Environmental Law, 2011 in Quetta, a South Asia Conference on Environmental Justice held at Bhurban on March 2012, and a number of national and international workshops and seminars held by South Asia Partnership (SAP), Family Planning Association Pakistan (FPAP), the Asia Foundation, Aurat Foundation, Balochistan Rural Support Program and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar was a member of the Board of Directors in the Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP), Quetta and of Asia Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Studies University Law College, Quetta. He also delivers lectures to judicial officers during orientation workshops to the District Judiciary held by the Balochistan Judicial Academy, Quetta.
A lifelong philanthropist, Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, through his tireless efforts in this field established a girl's school in 2006. A project of charity, the Girls High School, Nawan Killi, Quetta, now educates 1400 girls yearly.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar was elected as Finance Secretary and Vice President of the Balochistan Bar Association (1993 to 1994). He was also elected as a member of the Balochistan Bar Council (2005-2009) and remained as the Chairman of the Executive Committee (2008-2009) as well as the Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Bar Council (2007-2008).
Muhammad Hashim Kakar was appointed as the chairman of the Balochistan Service Tribunal on the 19th of October 2009, to the 12th of May 2011. During his tenure as the chairman of the Balochistan Service Tribunal he delivered/authored a number of Judgments in regard of OSD, transfer posting, date of birth of civil servants, shoulder promotion, which have been reported in law journals.
Muhammad Hashim Kakar was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Balochistan on the 12th of May 2011, and confirmed Judge of the High Court of Balochistan on the 11th of May, 2012.
Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar is the chairperson of the Gardening Committee, a member of the Case Fixation Committee and Green Bench Committee in the High Court of Balochistan. He was on the Kharotabad Commission in 2011.
