Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Monday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis, stating that facilitating expatriates remains a top priority.
Chairing a high-level meeting on matters concerning overseas Pakistanis, the premier said efforts were underway to provide them with greater facilities and encourage their investment in Pakistan based on their professional expertise.
“Overseas Pakistanis are our ambassadors abroad. Their loyalty, hard work, and love for Pakistan are unmatched,” the prime minister said, adding that their contributions in diverse fields including medicine, education, engineering, and consultancy have earned global recognition for themselves and their country.
He acknowledged the active participation of a large number of expatriates in the recent Overseas Pakistanis Convention, saying it reflected their trust in the government’s policies. “We salute the sincere sentiments, love, and sacrifices of overseas Pakistanis,” the prime minister said.
Highlighting the government’s recent measures, Shehbaz Sharif noted that a substantial incentive package had been introduced in recognition of the expatriates' services. He announced that those who excelled in their respective fields and those sending the highest remittances through official banking channels would be honored with civil awards.
The meeting was briefed on the implementation strategy for the announced facilities and incentives. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, federal ministers, and other senior officials.
