Rashid Minhas paid tribute on 52nd martyrdom anniversary

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Public Relations Department has released a short documentary to pay homage to Rashid Minhas, the youngest pilot officer to receive the highest military award, Nishan Haider, on the occasion of his 52nd martyrdom anniversary, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Rashid Minhas was born on February 17, 1951, and he got commission in the PAF on March 14, 1971, in the 51st GD Pilot course.

Later, he was posted in a squadron situated in Maripur for 2nd operational conversion course.

The PAF spokesman said that on August 20, 1971, Rashid Minhas created an unforgettable story of sacrifice.

He added that Rashid Minhas crushing the evil ambitions of his instructor Flight Lieutenant Mutiur Rehman who attempted to hijack his T-33 training plane and take it to India.

He further said that Rashid Minhas had fought hard to regain control of the plane and preferred to crash it before it crossed the border.

In recognition of his great sacrifice, the Government of Pakistan awarded Rashid Minhas the highest military award of the country, Nishan-e-Haider.
