Alkhidmat Foundation accelerates relief efforts for flood victims across country

 Jamaat-e-Islami’s welfare wing-Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has increased its relief activities for victims of heavy rains and floods across Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh provinces, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.


According to a statement, the foundation held a recent review meeting to assess the ongoing weather conditions and the foundation's relief operations. The foundation’s vice president and chairman of disaster management department, Ejaz Ullah Khan briefed the meeting on the extensive efforts being undertaken.


He told the meeting that following the floods triggered by recent rains, the volunteers had been actively involved in rescuing citizens stranded in floodwaters, transporting them to safer locations.


“The foundation is also providing essential supplies, including cooked meals, food packages, tents, tarpaulin sheets, and other necessary items to the affected areas.”


Additionally, medical camps have been established, and mobile health units have been deployed to prevent the outbreak of diseases and to offer medical assistance to the victims.


Ejaz Ullah Khan lauded the efforts of Alkhidmat volunteers in rescuing 404 individuals from flood-affected areas, including Bumburet, Goliyan, and Mori Bala in Chitral, Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Ziarat, and Qilla Saifullah in Balochistan, and Sakrand in Sindh.


Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman, during the meeting emphasized that in anticipation of continued rains and potential flooding, flood emergency centers at the central, regional, and local levels have been put on high alert across all districts of Pakistan.


Alkhidmat’s disaster management teams are in constant coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant agencies, remaining fully committed to serving humanity during this challenging time.
