Pakistan's blockbuster film 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' will be released in Indian theaters next month.
An Indian entertainment website has reported that actor Fawad Khan's mega-hit film will be released in Indian theaters on September 20.
The Legend of Maula Jatt also stars talented Pakistani stars including Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Gohar Rasheed, and Humaima Malick in key roles.
According to the report, close sources to the film suggest that 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' might be released in India by ZEE Studios.
It is worth noting that some Pakistani extremists opposed to the film have threatened to block its release in India as earlier it was going to be released in December 2022 however, after facing opposition from Hindu far-right groups and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the film's release was canceled in India.
The film is a remake of the 1979 hit film Maula Jatt, whose main characters, Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, gained tremendous fame through actors Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi.
The last Pakistani film that was released in India was 'Bol' starring Mahira in 2011.
Before that was 'Ramchand' Pakistani starring Nandita Das and Rashid Farooqi in 2008.
'Khuda Kay Liye', which included Fawad in the ensemble cast alongside Naseeruddin Shah, was released in 2007.
In November this year, the Dharamshala International Film Festival screened Saim Sadiq’s 'Joyland', which is Pakistan’s official entry in the international film category at the 95th Academy Awards.
