PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to quit over his party’s shameful defeat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections mockingly telling him there will be no taker for the PTI ticket in the next round of polls, reported 24 NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the newsmen after her court appearance in Avenfield reference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Maryam Nawaz said that what happened in the KP with the ruling party was quite obvious.
Imran Khan has been buried under his own ‘performance’, she said sarcastically.
She was of the view that the PTI MNAs and MPAs were not standing with their own candidates of the LG polls. She predicted that nobody would like to take PTI ticket anymore. She, however, advised the PTI ticket holders to go into public after wearing ‘helmet’.
Maryam deplored that the current rulers had completely ruined the robust economy of Nawaz’s era and crushed the people of this country under the wheel of inflation.
She stated that the PTI ran away from Lahore by-election extending an excuse of ‘technical ground’. Imran Khan must accept that he is unable to run this country, she added.
She congratulated JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on his party’s success in elections.
She asked the PML-N leaders and workers to pay full attention to the KP for the next round of LG polls.
Commenting on the Bus Rapid Transport project, she cynically said ‘this bus runs less and burns more’.
When a journalist asked Maryam, will Shehbaz Sharif be the next prime minister candidate from the PML-N, she retorted that the party supremo Nawaz has the authority to nominate the party’s candidate for prime mininstership.
On the PML-N supremo’s return to Pakistan, she commented that three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would return to the country “very soon”.
“Insha’Allah he (Nawaz Sharif) will be here very soon. I wish he will land in Pakistan tomorrow. This is his country and he is anxious to come back,” she added.
Talking about the reference against her, she said that all cases were based on lies. In court, the NAB even could not present a single paper against her, she added.
Earlier, a two-judge bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard appeals in the Avenfield case. Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt ® Safdar Mehmood appeared before the court. The couple’s son Junaid Safdar also accompanied them.
Lawyer Irfan Qadir represented Maryam and Safdar in the court while on NAB’s behalf Deputy Prosecutor Gen ® Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi appeared.
The NAB requested the adjournment of the hearing saying its prosecutor Usman Cheema could not attend the hearing because of his illness as doctors advised him to quarantine after he was suffering from fever and had lost his senses of taste and smell.
Accepting NAB’s request, the court adjourned the case till Jan 18.
