Renowned religious scholar Maulana Yusuf Islahi passes away in India

Renowned religious scholar, author, speaker, and founder of several educational institutions of the Indian sub-continent Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Islahi died at a hospital in Noida (Uttar Pradesh), India on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Islahi, who had been admitted to a hospital a few days back due to heart and respiratory problems, was one of the most eminent Ulemas of the Islamic world.

Born in district Attock of Pakistan in 1932, Maulana Islahi was a member of the consultative body of Jamaat-e Islami Hind. He was also the chief patron of the Project “Why Islam” of the Islamic Circle of North America. His thoughts had the influence of Maulana Maududi, Amin Ahsan Islahi, and Abdul Hayyee Lucknawi.

He left behind a treasure of knowledge that would continue to quench the thirst of knowledge seekers all over the world.

Although, much of what he wrote and said was in Urdu, but through his students scattered all over the world, he reached an audience speaking different languages and cultures.

The books penned down by him are popular in the sub-continent, USA, Europe and other countries. One of his books, Adaabe Zindagi, has been translated into different languages. Similarly, another book Aasaan Fiqh (Easy Jurisprudence) has also a large circulation.

His funeral prayers were offered after Asr prayers and was buried at his ancestral town Rampur.
