The ruling alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said security agencies including police and CTD protect the lives, properties, and basic rights of citizens all over the world, but in Pakistan, law enforcement agencies deprive them of their basic rights and free mobilization.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that just as every Pakistani citizen was a born criminal under the NAB laws, the institutions responsible for public order also do not take care of the basic human rights of the citizens.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) laws were against the universal principles of justice.
He added that as per the NAB rules, after arresting any citizen, he or she is asked to prove his or her innocence, although, in the laws of the world, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff.
The JUI chief said for 22 years, the citizens of Pakistan were oppressed under the black laws of NAB, but the international human rights organizations, including the civilized world, remained silent.
Maulana Fazl said that his coalition government has made some reforms in the NAB laws and aligned them with the natural standards of justice and fairness but the PTI challenged these NAB amendments in the Supreme Court.
Maulana said that the former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar of PTI has requested the court that his cases be tried under the amended rules of NAB while Nawaz Sharif's former personal secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad has appealed the court that his cases should be trialed under the old rules of NAB.
