Cricket commentator Nauman Niaz lashed out at the poor batting of Pakistani team in three-match Test series against England and raised questions on the batting technique of the national team, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In a tweet, Nauman Niaz said that the English bowlers dismissed the Pakistani batters with planning, adding that the batters of the Pakistani team were weak in short-pitched bowling which the English bowlers took full advantage of.
“The Pakistani batters seemed to have no plan,” he added.
In another tweet, Nauman Niaz said that Azhar had been dismissed twice in four innings on leg side balls, despite being the most experienced batsman.
“Similarly, Pakistan could have won the Multan Test if Muhammad Nawaz and Saud Shakeel had batted responsibly. Mark Wood dismissed both the batsmen on short length balls with planning. Do our batsmen lack technique?” he added.
The cricketer commentator also raised questions on the weaknesses of Pakistani batsmen and said: “Did our batsmen plan to deal with short length bowling? Was there any strategy to score fast? Why do the majority of our batsmen not have the skills to negotiate bouncers and short bowling?”
He questioned: “Is the unavailability of quality pitches the reason for this? The concern is why we have not been able to produce quality spinners, and why there is no other fast bowler apart from Shaheen Afridi.”
Addressing the PCB officials, Nauman said: “We have to decide which method we want to employ in Tests. England’s approach to Test cricket is rare and conventional. Are our batsmen equipped to play modern cricket? It all boils down to ESR mark specialist red ball players, develop infrastructure & resource accordingly?”
