Former president and Co-Chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari has got another relief as an accountability court has sent back the suspicious transactions reference against him to the NAB, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday heard a petition challenging the hearing of a reference against former president Zardari in suspicious transactions case after the enactment of new NAB law.
Zardari’s lawyer Farooq Naek and NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif appeared before the court.
While presenting his arguments, Naek contended that Zardari had nothing to do with this reference. He said after the promulgation of amended NAO, this court did not have the jurisdiction to hear this reference.
He pleaded with the court to give decision on the applications as per the law.
After hearing arguments, Administrative Judge Muhammad Bashir announced his decision directing the authorities to send the reference to the concerned forum.
The NAB had filed this reference in the accountability court last year.
