Passports of 4,700 Pakistanis imprisoned in UAE jails blocked

The government has blocked the passports of 4,700 Pakistanis imprisoned in the UAE jails, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Sources in the Interior Ministry told 24News TV channel that presently 5, 292 Pakistanis were in the UAE jails in connection with different offences.
Of a total 4,700 Pakistanis, 2,470 were those who were serving prison terms in connection with drug-related crimes, sources said, adding that the passports of 100 Pakistanis who were found involved in fraud and sexual harassment had been blocked as well.
Similarly, they informed, the passports of 704 Pakistanis imprisoned for committing thefts and robberies had also been blocked.
Likewise, sources disclosed, the passports of 216 Pakistanis who were in jails for committing murder had also been blocked.
They revealed that the passports of 375 Pakistanis who had been staying in the Gulf country illegally had also been blocked.
The government of the UAE had provided the government of Pakistan with the list of these persons after which action was taken against them.
It is pertinent to mention here that in October this year, the passports of thousands of Pakistanis imprisoned in jails in Saudi Arabia had also been blocked.
