Granddaughter of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has blown the lid off worst condition of educational institutions and the Sindh government’s failure to protect and take care of schools, already few and far in the province.
In a series of tweets, Fatima Bhutto, daughter of Murtaza Bhutto, shared pictures of a school established in the name of her great grandfather Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto in Sijawal Junejo, a taluka of Qambar Shahdadkot District, in Larkana Division. The school has been closed for the past 12 years without any reason, although a vast majority of children belong to the area has been deprived of educational facilities.
In her tweets, Fatima pinpointed the worst condition of the school and termed it worst form of corruption on part of the Sindh rulers.
PPP lawmakers from NA-202 Aftab Shahban Mirani, Mir Nadir Ali Khan Magsi from PS-14 and Ghanwar Ali Khan Isran from PS-15 have been ruling the area since long and why they do not get the school functional, she posed a question. Crumbling building of the school actually reflects priorities of the ruling elite in the province and their so-called tall claims.
In the tweets, she wrote: “This is the window of a classroom, which is pitifully small – is filled with twigs, stones and garbage. The door is broken. The roof is falling apart. For 12 years, nearly a generation, no children have been educated in this village in Sijawal.”
Sijawal’s members of national and provincial assemblies are and have been amongst the wealthiest and most powerful people in Pakistan. Is it that they can’t run the most basic of services for their constituents or that they simply don’t care?
Fatima also encouraged the public to share pictures of closed and ghost schools in their respective areas on social media to expose the politicians ruling these areas as dynastic politics.
“Is there a ghost school in your area? Take pictures of it, find out the details, share it. Find out who the MPA and MNA of the area is. How many generations will they keep ignorant.”
