Lewis Gregory led Islamabad United to win over Multan Sultans in the third match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 at National Stadium Karachi on Sunday night.
Islamabad United achieved the target of 151 runs in the last over of the match. Lewis Gregory topped scorer with 49 runs. Alex Hales and Faheem Ashraf made 29 and 22 runs, respectively.
Multan Sultans’ Shahid Afridi and Carlos Brathwaite took two wickets each. Khushdil Shah also grabbed an important wicket of Tallat Hussain. United needed 20 runs of the 12 balls. The turning point of the match was the second last over bowled by Sohail Tanvir who conceded 19 runs. Lewis Gregory named player of the match with his all-round performance.
Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and decided to bowl first. United restricted Sultans to 150 for the loss of 8 wickets. Sultans’ Rizwan remained the top scorer with 71 runs. Continuing his rich form, Rizwan hit 8 fours and two sixes during his innings. Rilee Rossouw and Carlos Brathwaite made 25 and 22 runs, respectively.
United’s Muhammad Wasim took 3 important wickets. Lewis Gregory bagged two wickets. Hassan Ali also produced a very good spell of bowling as he only conceded 16 runs and got a wicket as well.
