Pakistan Muslim League (N) has decided to go for legal measures to get Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi removed from the benches taking up the cases related to the party, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, the decision was made during a consultative meeting under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The legal experts told the premier that the two judges are biased. The irrefutable evidence of the audio leak against Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi came to the spotlight.
The PM was briefed that Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed adverse judgments in cases related to Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, the insiders said, citing the matters of Panama, party leadership, Pakpattan allotment and Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
Justice Ejazul Ahsan is too against Nawaz Sharif. It is the law and judicial tradition that controversial judges voluntarily recuse themselves from the hearing of the relevant case, the meeting was told.
On the request of the aggrieved party, there is a tradition of removing the controversial judge from the bench, so the party legal team will ask these judges to recuse themselves from the benches.
