Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has emphasised the importance of serious negotiations for the sake of the country and democracy. He appealed to the nonserious people to avoid disrupting the negotiation process, labelling it a critical need for the nation.

Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Barrister Gohar clarified that his recent meeting with the Army Chief was solely on security-related issues. He dismissed claims of it being a backdoor negotiation, calling such suggestions misleading.

Barrister Gohar proudly highlighted that PTI is the world’s sixth-largest political party. “Our party’s symbol is none other than ‘Khan Sahib,’ representing the leadership and vision of Imran Khan,” he remarked.

He further stated that until a new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is appointed, the current sitting commissioner will constitutionally continue to perform his duties.

The PTI chairman also pointed out that PTI is the only political party in Pakistan to have held intra-party elections. However, he expressed disappointment over the Election Commission's delay in issuing a certificate for PTI’s intra-party elections.

Additionally, Barrister Gohar claimed that the five petitioners challenging PTI’s intra-party elections did not even participate in the polls. He assured that the party would submit its response to the Election Commission during the next hearing.

He mentioned that Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub had written to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, while Opposition Leader in the Senate Shibli Faraz had approached the Senate Chairman, requesting the formation of a parliamentary committee to appoint a new Chief Election Commissioner.

Barrister Gohar thanked those who raised their voices for the PTI founder, emphasising that their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Earlier today, Barrister Gohar appeared before the Election Commission in the intra-party election case. The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench headed by the CEC.

During the hearing, petitioner Akbar S Babar demanded an audit of PTI’s accounts, while Barrister Gohar sought time to submit a reply. The Election Commission adjourned the case until February 11.
