Supreme Court of Pakistan has removed Additional Registrar (Judicial) Nazar Abbas from his post following a controversy over case-fixing, reproted 24NewsHDTV Channel.
A notification issued by the Additional Registrar (Administration) said that Nazar Abbas has been reassigned as an officer on special duty (OSD). The notification revealed that Abbas was found guilty of a significant error by scheduling a constitutional bench case before a regular bench, disrupting court proceedings. The Supreme Court noted that his actions resulted in a waste of the court’s and litigants' time and resources. The registrar of the Supreme Court has been instructed to thoroughly examine the matter.
The issue involves mismanagement in fixation of cases. CPLA Nos. 836-K to 887-K, 951-K, 1056-K of 2020 and 741-K to 743-K of 2021 and 165-K of 2022, are bunch of cases where the vires of Custom Act, 1969 were challenged. These cases were required to be fixed before the Constitutional Bench but were mistakenly fixed before the regular Bench of the Supreme Court, consequently, it led to wastage of time, resources of the institution as well as the parties, said a press release issued here Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan has delisted a case regarding case-fixing after the removal of concerned Additional Registrar Judicial. SC senior-most judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah-led two member bench has fixed the hearing of the case on Wednesday.
