Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to Rawalpindi to encourage the local administration for adopting better monsoon measures.
He took a tour of Nullah Leh and was briefed about the post-rain situation.
Talking to the media, the chief minister said despite the unusual rainfall, the Rawalpindi administration has done a good job.
“I came to encourage them,” he said, adding that 205 mm of rain fell yesterday.
He added Rs120 was spent on cleansing the drains in Rawalpindi while anti-encroachment operations around drains are going on and will go on.
He said steps are being taken to improve the treatment facilities in the hospitals across Punjab
Funds have been released for some hospitals while for the others will be released in a week
He said the provincial government will provide all necessary resources for projects of Rawalpindi
Earlier, the chief minister reviewed the water situation in Nullah Leh at various spots.
Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta, and senior officials were also present.
The chief minister issued directives to be ready to cope with the possible challenges
Dewatering pumps and heavy machinery must be operational and the staff concerned must remain alert, he insisted adding that public safety must be the utmost priority.
