Peshawar Corps Commander hands over Buddha’s statue to Archaeology Directorate

Peshawar Corps Commander handed over a statue of Buddha to Directorate of Archaeology as a gift, reported 24News HD TV channel on Monday.

Archaeology Director Abdul Samad told that a British major had discovered the statue from the ruins of Takht Bhai in 1935. He said the statue is 2000-year old. It had been kept at Peshawar Cantonment. 

He said now, it will be put on exhibition at Peshawar Museum, adding that the exhibition of Buddha’s statue at the museum would further enhance religious tourism. Pakistan Army is playing its role in the promotion of tourism in the country, he added.
