Police in Peshawar have foiled the bid to smuggle a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
SSP Rural Zafar Ahmad told media that police cordoned off the motorway and signaled a car to stop. “But those sitting inside it opened fire at the cops while the driver sped away the car,” he said, adding, “At last, the suspects abandoned the car and fled.”
The SSP elaborated that when the car was searched, the police recovered 111 pistols, 13 rifles, two Kalashnikov rifles, and over 14, 000 cartridges.
He informed that a special team, headed by DSP Chamkani Zahi Alam, had been constituted for the arrest of culprits.
