The Punjab government has withdrawn its petition filed in the Lahore High Court seeking to cancel the bail of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in a corruption case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
Consequently, the Lahore High Court has disposed of the Punjab government's plea.
The decision was made during a hearing presided over by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal.
The Punjab government was represented by Additional Advocate General Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq and Acting District Public Prosecutor Medium Samra Irshad.
"The government wishes to withdraw the petition filed to cancel the bail of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi," stated Additional Prosecutor General Punjab. The court accepted this request and officially disposed of the case.
The petition for cancelling Elahi's bail was initially filed by the Punjab government on June 24, 2023, through the Prosecutor General's office. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others were made parties to the petition.
This decision marks a significant relief for Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, easing his legal battles in the ongoing corruption case.
