In the light of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision of ‘Digital Punjab’ and on her directives, more localities of the city have now been added to the list of areas covered by Lahore Free Wi-Fi Services, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The Punjab Safe City Authority has introduced ‘CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi Services’ at 100 more points in the Punjab capital, thus taking the number of areas where these services were already being provided from 100 to 200.
The services have now been introduced at Manga Mandi, the areas situated at Multan Road, Band Road, Chung, Shahpur Kanjra, Sundar, Valencia, Maraka and other localities of southern Lahore.
The chief minister has said that under the ‘Digital Punjab Vision’, emergency Wi-Fi services are now being provided to the people for free.
Courtesy of these services, people can now contact their families and the police during an emergency.
Similarly, these services also enable citizens to use WhatsApp, the Women Safety App and the Punjab Police App.
In Lahore, the range of every free Wi-Fi device is 300 feet from the concerned point.
Different applications can also be uploaded with the help of these services.
Similarly, these services can also be used for hiring a taxi.
However, the CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi services cannot be used to upload Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and other entertainment-related apps.
