Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has directed the military to intensify its efforts in assisting the civil administration.
The directives came after a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Army Chief, who said “Every preventive step on individual level is vital (against the spread of the coronavirus).”
In a statement issued by the ISPR on Saturday, the COAS also said “Each individual has to be a responsible citizen in order to facilitate the state institutions in their bid to combat the coronavirus.”
“It is incumbent on every Pakistani to comply with the directives of the government and the health department,” General Bajwa said, and added that “Only by doing so, the national efforts will lead to success against the spread of the infection.”
Giving the example of China, the Army Chief said “No threat can defeat a responsible and determined nation, and you have the recent example of China.”
He said that the Pakistan Army would fulfil its responsibility as an integral part of the national efforts against this emergency.
“Only individual discipline and mutual cooperation could assist the collective efforts of the institutions. Only it could become our national success,” General Bajwa maintained.
