A strong westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country and rain wind-thunderstorm lashed the provincial capital Lahore on Sunday morning turning the weather pleasant while 77 feeders also tripped causing electricity outages for the residents, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
This is the second rain shower spell of the ongoing spring season.
Weather remained dry in many parts of the country during the past 24 hours (Saturday); however rain (mm) thunderstorm occurred in Punjab: Bhakkar 06, Khanewal 05, Toba Tek Singh 01, Quetta (Samungli 06, City 01), Khuzdar, Zhob 04, Sibbi 01, DI Khan 06, Kalam, Chitral 05, Mirkhani 03 and Drosh 02mm.
The Met Office predicted rain with thunderstorms (snow over high mountains) in north and central Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, Punjab and upper Sindh.
Hailstorms are also expected on Sunday at a few places, while isolated heavy falls are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the period. The Met office predicted the synoptic situation may persist till Tuesday.
The TV channel reported that due to the rains in Lahore, LESCO's transmission system malfunctioned and over 70 feeders of the company were tripped and power supply has been suspended in different areas of the metropolis.
