Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq has directed the police to abide by the law while grilling PTI leader Hasan Niazi.
The court insisted the investigation must be in accordance with the law. The court was told that the police would present Hasan Niazi to the court tomorrow. As Hasan’s lawyer pointed to the fear of ‘custodial torture’, IHC Amir Farooq ordered the police to refrain from violating the law and torture of the accused.
The CJ said the accused belongs to a political party, it does not mean that the rights should be taken away.
The Ramna police arrested Hassan Niazi on charges of attempt to murder, resistance, trespassing and display of arms on the complaint of an ASI.
According to the FIR, the driver of the PTI leader attempted to run over the cops as they flagged down.
Hassan Niazi threatened to kill, the FIR states, adding that arms were also displaced. Meanwhile, a man came out of the vehicle and escaped, it said.
