Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that drama series Ertugrul is more a Turkish history than Islamic history.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Fawad Chaudhry said, “Probably the Arabs will not like the popularity of the Ertugrul in Pakistan.”

Fawad Chaudhry maintained that Pakistanis do not believe in the pre-1947 history.

It is pertinent to note that Turkish television series "Diriliş: Ertuğrul" ("Resurrection: Ertuğrul") already aiming to break the world record for the most new subscribers on YouTube in a 28-day period.

According to TRT (Turkey’s state television), after being aired on the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV), TRT Ertugrul by PTV, the series' Urdu-language YouTube channel, crossed 3.41 million subscribers and over 200 million views and 6.62 million subscribers are needed in order to break the record.

Fawad Chaudhry disagreed to what Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly stressed to watch the Turkish drama series. Imran Khan along with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey had repeatedly promoted this Turkish historical drama series.

The show is based on the history of 13th century Muslim Oghuz Turks and centres around the life of Ertuğrul, who was the founder of the Ottoman Empire. Its sequel Kuruluş: Osman revolves around the life of Osman I.

It has five seasons comprising 120 episodes. It is unclear that PTV will broadcast all the five seasons or just one season.

The drama was filmed in Riva, a village in Beykoz, Turkey, and premiered on TRT 1 in Turkey on December 10, 2014.
