The Anti-Corruption Lahore Region on Monday summoned the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Javed Badar for questioning in connection with an investigation into a bribe case against him at 2:00 PM on May 22, reported24NewsHD TV channel.
Badar, facing the allegation of receiving Rs50 million in bribe for concealing billions of rupees worth of tax file of the most expensive ice cream brand, Baskin-Robbins, was directed to appear before the department’s team at Judicial Colony.
Abdul Qayyum Hafeez, a complainant, alleged that the PRA chairman had received a hefty amount in bribe.
He said he had given to the PRA commissioner enforcement proofs of tax evasion of billions of rupees against an ice cream company, AHG Flavours. “Later the PRA team, after conducting scrutiny of the proofs provided, conducted a raid and even confiscated the record,” the complainant said, adding that then the Authority team after conducting the audit issued notices to the AHG Flavours, slapping Rs3 billion in fine and taxes.
Hafeez said that later the PRA chairman, in connivance with the company’s management, concealed the file.
On the other hand, despite the fact that 24News repeatedly contacted Badar for comments, he did not say anything in his defence.
