The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Monday officially declared an inquiry into the complaint lodged against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the SJC declaration, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood stated that he has been publicly defamed and as the complainant herself conceded that it was factually incorrect he requests that action to be taken against her and against advocate Azhar Siddique, who had tweeted her complaint.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood had also requested that since he was publicly defamed he should be publicly exonerated too and that the order passed today as well as the examination of the complainant and answers to questions be disclosed and that he does not claim any confidentiality regarding it or in respect of his written response.
The Supreme Judicial Council declared that malicious complaint against defamation of Justice Sardar Tariq Masood is dismissed.
The decision on whether to proceed with an investigation against Amna Malik for filing a complaint or to dismiss the matter will be made at a later date, the SJC added.
Advocate Azhar Sadiq has been issued a notice by the Supreme Judicial Council, demanding clarification on his actions.
The council has given Advocate Azhar Sadiq a seven-day window to provide a detailed explanation.
In response to the notice, Advocate Azhar Sadiq must clarify within the stipulated time frame whether the tweet was intended to provoke legal action against him.
