Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday approved five-day physical remand of PTI founder Imran Khan in inciting to violence case registered against him during PTI’s protest call on September 28, reported 24NewDH TV channel.
Anti-Terrorism Court judge heard the case against Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. Imran Khan's lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar and the public prosecutor appeared in the court for arguments.
During the hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Zaheer Shah requested the court to provide 15-day physical remand of PTI founder. The prosecutor further contended that despite the imposition of Article 144 on the call of Imran Khan, the protesters attacked the government property on September 28. The public prosecutor claimed that the plan was made in Adiala Jail and the call was made from there by Imran Khan.
Imran Khan's lawyer Salman Safdar told ATC judge that Imran Khan had been in solitary confinement in Adiala Jail for one and a half years, how can he plan such a big plan from a jail?. PTI counsel contended that the case is clear example of political vendetta as all grounds of the case are based on assumptions.
Later, the court rejected the prosecutor's request for 15 days remand and granted Imran Khan's 5 days physical remand. Anti-Terrorism Court ordered the PTI founder to be produced again on November 26 and directed that Imran Khan be interrogated inside the jail. It should be noted that the PTI founder was booked in inciting to violence during protest call on September 28, in which he was arrested yesterday after getting bail from Tosha Khana two reference.
