Petitions were filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday, seeking the court order to the PTI not to go ahead with its November 24th protest in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the first hour of the hearing of the petition, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, secretary interior, IGP Islamabad and the chief commissioner, Islamabad to appear in the court in person.
IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Aamer Farooq will resume hearing of the case shortly.
Making the secretary interior, the chief commissioner, Islamabad, the IGP, Islamabad and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan respondents in the petition, Jinnah Super Traders Association President Asad Aziz said it appeared as if the PTI workers were going to storm the federal capital. “Only recently, a law has been enacted related to holding protest demonstrations in the capital city. Holding protests without the administration’s permission gives the impression as if there is lawlessness in the state. So therefore, it is requested that the court orders the government to stop the party’s demonstration,” read the petition.
In a similar petition filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC), it was argued that the PTI’s protest was against the basic human rights; so, therefore, it should be declared unconstitutional.
