Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Wednesday reached Skardu for pacing up the campaign for upcoming Gilgit Baltistan General Elections to be held on 25 November, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Bilawal addressing the PPP workers in Skardu said he will complete the mission of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and will protect the constitutional rights and interests of the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
Bilawal pledged to provide jobs and said he came to Gilgit Baltistan to fulfil the PPP manifesto for the region. He requested people to support him in fulfilling those dreams and promises.
He also visited PPP Gilgit Baltistan General Secretary’s residence at Benazir Chowk in Skardu and expressed his condolences with Engineer Ismail Haider on the sad demise of his brother Ghulam Haider.
The schedule for the general elections in the Gilgit Baltistan region had been announced by Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shehbaz.
According to the schedule, general elections in Gilgit Baltistan will be held on November 15 (Wednesday) on 24 general seats of the GB Legislative Assembly.
The elections were supposed to be held on Aug 18 but were later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is pertinent to note that five-year term of the previous assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had ended on June 24.
