Former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has become a target of censure either because of his complete ignorance or getting political scoring as he tried to put the blame of existing tax levied on mobile phones on the current coalition government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
In his tweet, Fawad Ch lashed out at PMLN-led government saying that “due to heavy taxes, the import of phones has been decreased by 68% which is worrying. Today, mobile phone communication is one of the most important pillars of the economy. The government should rationalize and rationalize the tax. Such a huge drop in imports will hit us hard.”
But to make the record straight, it is the previous PTI regime which levied tax on the mobile phones in 2018.
The Twitterati, however, nailed Chaudhry for his ignorance in this regard saying it was Imran Khan who levied taxes on the mobile phone consumers. They also shared Chaudhry’s tweet dating back to 2018. At that time, he declared that imposing tax on mobiles was good for economy as we were importing mobile phones worth $2 billion and we had to pay the tax.
