Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has once again geared up its efforts to convene a senate meeting to discuss pressing economic issues, including poverty, inflation, and unemployment, which have been plaguing the nation, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to sources, the PPP has undertaken proactive steps to initiate this process, having prepared a requisition and initiated communication with allied parties in the Senate to call a senate meeting.
In this regard, the PPP contacted many allied parties in the Senate including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim Alliance Pakhtunkhwa (PK MAP), National Party Balochistan, and Jamaat-e-Islami.
The PPP's requisition, supported by these allied signatures, will be duly submitted to the Senate Secretariat, paving the way for an official Senate session, the sources said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Senate had rejected the PPP's requisition to convene a meeting.
The Senate Secretariat had raised concerns about the authenticity of the signatures on the requisition submitted by PPP, initially deeming them as fake.
