Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister, Kamran Bangash has been arrested in Peshawar, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Bangash after dodging several raids, was finally arrested as the Peshawar police conducted a raid at his residence in the Chamkani area.
The PTI leader is a close aide of former prime minister Imran Khan and was named in several corruption cases.
He, however, has been detained in the May 9 violence charges, that erupted following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Prior to this arrest, the Peshawar High Court had issued explicit orders to authorities, including the police, to refrain from taking any unlawful actions against the family members of the former minister.
This directive was issued following a petition submitted by Bangash's brother, who alleged that the police had conducted unwarranted searches at their residence and subjected him and his family to harassment.
In this latest development, the police acted on information regarding the presence of fugitives at Kamran Bangash's house in Chamkani, ultimately leading to his arrest. He has since been transferred to the Chamkani police station as authorities delve further into the case.
