Local bodies’ by-elections on 53 vacant seats in neighbourhood and village councils of 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ends peacfully and counting process continued, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the Election Commission, the polling process started from 9 am to 5 pm without any break.
Elections are being held in 53 village and neighbourhood councils on seats reserved for general, women, labourers, farmers, and youth, the Election Commission said.
As many as 345604 voters, including 185377 male and 160227 female voters, will exercise their right to vote in 17 districts of the province. By-elections are being held in Noshehra, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Kirk, Lucky Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kolai Plas, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Lower Dir, and Bajaur.
About 260 polling stations have been set up for the by-elections, the Election Commission said. The by-elections include 39 general, 6 women, 1 farmer, and 7 youth seats.
