Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khalid Gujjar has been apprehended by Punjab police in connection with his alleged involvement in the tumultuous events that unfolded on May 9, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to sources, Khalid Gujjar, who also happened to be the brother of former provincial assembly member Shabbir Gujjar and had been hiding authorities since the May 9 incidents, was arrested from Raiwind Road.

Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders are facing probe after the May 9 incidents that were triggered across Pakistan after the arrest of the PTI chairman in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Moreover, it has come to light that Khalid Gujjar was not only a prominent figure within PTI but was also a candidate for the National Assembly seat on the PTI ticket.

The police have not yet disclosed specific details regarding the charges brought against Khalid Gujjar.

In a recent development, the government has added sedition clauses to the challans of all the accused, including Chairman PTI who had allegedly been involved in May 9 attacks and arson.

As per details, SSP Investigation Dr. Anoosh Masood Chaudhry said that Section 120B has been in all the cases including the main case of May 9.

She said that despite the absence of the Chairman PTI Imran Khan at the scene of the incident, there was evidence of inciting and planning a rebellion against the state.

According to the police, the sedition charges were added after the prosecution raised objections to the challan.

So, all objections of prosecution have been removed. Now challan will be submitted after receiving the report of the agencies, the sources cocluded.
