In a recent development, a significant influx of Afghan traders was observed in Pakistan, immediately after the opening of the Afghan border, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Estimates suggest that over a thousand traders made their way into the country, primarily through the Torkham border and other points of entry.

Sources have revealed that a prime motivation behind this massive ingress was the purchase and potential smuggling of sugar. The traders, after procuring sugar from various regions within Pakistan, allegedly intended to smuggle it back to Afghanistan.

Given the volume of this activity, concerns have arisen over a potential rise in sugar prices across Pakistan. This influx and the possible smuggling operations have triggered alarms within the Ministry of Interior.

In response to these developments, the ministry has promptly issued directives to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to curtail any illicit sugar trading or smuggling efforts.

The FIA, acting on the ministry's instructions, has since constituted a special task force dedicated to overseeing and preventing any sugar smuggling activities.

As a part of the clampdown, officers have also been mandated to provide a comprehensive report on the matter to the Ministry of Interior, ensuring that the situation remains under control and regulated.

For the Pakistani populace, the presence of Afghan traders and the alleged smuggling attempts have raised apprehensions about sugar prices skyrocketing. As the situation unfolds, the government's proactive measures and surveillance efforts are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining stability in the sugar market and ensuring the interests of the common people are protected.
