The meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) called to discuss the Supreme Court’s decision regarding reserved seats in the National Assembly ended without producing any result on its fourth consecutive day Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ECP could not take a decision after briefings by its legal team, prompting it to again convene the meeting on Monday.
According to sources, the ECP meeting, chaired by CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja, also heard opinion from impartial lawyers and it decided to exercise its constitutional right. The commission was particularly briefed on the conflicting points between the apex court verdict and the Election Act.
The legal team sought more time from the ECP.
